Pinelands Creative Workshop (PCW)

The Pinelands Creative Workshop, registered Charity #212, was formed in February 1978. The mandate of the organization in its early stages was to unite the Pine community through the common interest of culture. This approach proved to be a successful one, serving to strengthen the community spirit.

Today, the themes of economic and psychological empowerment, cultural consciousness and community mobilization still form a vital part of the PCW’s work. The scope of the Workshop has expanded somewhat, to include many of the low-income communities in Barbados and some of those in the Eastern Caribbean. The PCW is dedicated to maintaining dialogue, especially in terms of poverty, capacity development, economic development and community integration.

Over the last four and a half decades, we have responded to the evolving needs of the community and wider Barbados. Alongside culture, social and economic development was added, allowing for attention to be given to education, economic empowerment, micro enterprise development, climate literacy, NGO development and support to the development of neighboring communities.
